The keys perform all the standard functions of a 101-key k eyboard, including the W indows keys and other special function keys. NUMERIC KEYPAD Certain keys on the keyboard perform dual func tions as both standard character keys and numeric key pad keys. T urning off the NumLk featur e is done the same way. The k eys in the numeric k eypad are marked on the front edge of the key t o indicate the ir secondary func- tions. Whil e holding the latch r elease, lift disp la y co ve r. 2. Lift the display backwards, being careful not to touch the scr een, until it is at a c omfortable view ing angle. (Figure 2-11) USING THE SYSTEM AS A T ABLET If yo u would lik e to use the system as a tablet, perform the following step s. 1. Lift the display until it is perpendicular to the key b oa rd. (Figure 2-13). 2. W hen the displa y is perpendicular to the k e yboard, rotate it clockwise (when viewed from th e top). Be very careful t o rotate i t in the dir ection indicated. (Figure 2-14). T urn the display 180 degrees so that it is facing backwards. (Figure 2-15) 3. Holdin g the top edge of the displa y panel, pull it forward until it is lying nearly atop the k eyboard. 4. Push the latc h towar ds the display (See “ A ” in Figure 2-12). The lat ch will piv ot so the top lat ch disappears, and the bottom latch appears (See “B ” in Figure 2-12). SETTING UP LIFEBOOK SECURITY PANEL W hen you r ecei ve y our T ablet PC, the securit y panel application is pre-installed without an y passwords. The following sections provide detailed information on your security panel, how to set, change or remov e passwords. Numbered Buttons U se these buttons to ent er your passwor d. (Figu re 2-18) Enter Button After entering the button strokes, push this button to enter the passw ord int o the T ablet PC. (Figur e 2-18) PASSWORDS The user and superv isor password may be set on this T ablet PC. A superv isor password is ty pically the same for all T able t PC’ s and notebooks in a work group, office, or company t o allow for system managem ent.

Individual computers in a group environmen t should n ot use a common passwor d. A password consists of one t o five button str okes plus the ente r button. A valid str oke consists of pushing one or up to four buttons simulta- neously. The screen orientat ion default can be changed by going to th e Control Panel and double-clicking on the Fujitsu Display Control icon and selecting the desired defaults from the Display Orientation section.Y ou must set the super- visor passw or d befor e the user pas swor d. Setting Supervisor Password Y ou must have set a superv isor password before setting any user passwords. USING Y OUR LIFEBOOK SE CURITY PANEL The securi ty lock feature is in effec t both when the system resumes from Off, Standby, or Hibernati on state. Y ou alwa ys need t o push the Secu rity P anel buttons to input the user password. For e xample, if the password is 22222, first press Button 2 fi v e times and press the Enter button. The T ablet PC will boot to normal operation. The T ablet PC should res ume normal operation. Incorrect Password Entry If an in valid super visor or user password is e ntered thr ee times in succession, the system will “beep” for about one minute. If a valid password is enter ed within a minute (while system beeps), the beeping will stop and the T able t P C w i ll res um e n or ma l o pe r at io n. If n o p as swo rd is entered or an invalid passwor d is entered while the system beeps, the system wil l return to its previous locked state (standby or off ) and the Securit y Indicator will go off. PRECAUTION S Opening an d Closing the Cover By default, c losing the c ove r automatically plac es y our system into Standby mode. (Y ou can change the action the system takes when the cov er is closed by opening the P ower Options Pr operties icon in the Control P anel, and selecting the Advanced tab. Y ou may change or re move the supervisor or user password by repeating the steps defined above.

Remember the us er pa ssword you specified on the Security Panel Application. If you forget the passwor d you will not be able to use your computer. The T ouchpad is composed of a cursor control, left and right buttons, and a scroll button. The cursor c ontr ol works the same wa y a mouse does, and mov es the cursor around the displa y. It only requir es light pressure with the tip of your finger. The left and rig ht buttons function the same as left and rig ht mouse buttons. The scroll butt on allows y ou to na vigate through pages quickly without using the scroll bars. The actual functionalit y of the buttons ma y vary dep ending on the application that is being used. ( Figur e 2-19) CLICKING Clicking means pushing and releasing a butt on. T o left- click, mov e the cursor t o the item y ou wish to select, press the left bu tton once, and then immediat ely release it.
